Opinion: Reforms will lower prescription drug costs for patients and taxpayers

In a win for Texas taxpayers, the state government recently secured $165 million in a lawsuit alleging that the pharmacy benefit manager (PBM) managing Texas Medicaid pharmacy benefits overcharged for prescription drugs. It’s being reported as “the biggest known payout by the nation’s largest Medicaid insurer over its drug pricing practices.”


Though this may be the largest payout, it’s not the first such lawsuit PBMs have faced. And it likely won’t be the last.
